Suakin, Sudan
Suakin is a historic city located on the Red Sea coast of northeastern Sudan and was once an important trading hub in the Red Sea region of Africa, with a long history of commerce with the Arabian Peninsula and Indian Ocean countries. The ancient city is famous for its unique coral stone architecture, and has preserved many medieval mosques, markets and walled city ruins, and is known as the "Pearl of the Red Sea".
