Located in the northwestern part of Kaohsiung City, Taiwan Province of China, Lujhu District is one of the important satellite cities of Kaohsiung Metropolitan Area. The area covers a total area of about 48.4348 square kilometers and has a population of about 53,000, with a predominance of residents of Minnan descent. Located at the junction of the Jia Nan Plain and the coastal zone, Luzhu has a flat terrain and traditionally focuses on agricultural production, producing rice, vegetables, and fruits, especially tomatoes, which are famous throughout Taiwan.
In recent years, Lujhu has been actively transforming and developing the technology industry, and part of the Kaohsiung Science Park is located here, attracting a number of semiconductor and optoelectronic technology companies. The traditional industries still retain the characteristics of agricultural machinery manufacturing and agricultural product processing, forming a development model where industry and agriculture go hand in hand. In terms of transportation, there is the Taiwan Railway Longitudinal Railway and the National Highway No. 1 Expressway, forming a convenient transportation network.
Lujhu has preserved a number of century-old temples, such as the Tianhou Palace and the Baoan Palace, and the cultural festivals held every year show strong local characteristics. Famous local delicacies include duck soup and traditional rice cakes. The neighboring Jhuhu Salt Flat Ruins and Yongan Wetland Ecological Zone add natural tourism resources to the area, presenting a unique urban and rural landscape that blends tradition and modernity.
