Limbé, Comoros is a coastal town on the island of Grande Comore in the Union of the Comoros, situated in the southwestern part of the island facing the Mozambique Channel. As one of the country's major ports, Limbé plays a key role in regional trade and fishing activities.
Adjacent to the capital city of Moroni, Limbi has a natural deep-water harbor and is an important hub for Comorian imports and exports. The local economy is based on fishing, the transportation of coconuts and spices (e.g. vanilla, cloves), and the port has a vibrant maritime economy with the daily movement of fishing boats and cargo ships.
The town is surrounded by volcanic landscapes and tropical vegetation, and the inhabitants are mostly of Swahili culture, preserving traditional architecture and lifestyle. The nearby waters are ideal for diving to see the coral reefs, while inland the Kartala volcano offers adventure for hikers.
Despite its relatively simple infrastructure, Limbi attracts travelers looking for a niche destination with its pristine seaside scenery and simple folk. It serves as a starting point for exploring the natural wonders and maritime culture of the Comoros and experiencing the unique charm of an Indian Ocean island nation.
