Qufu: Sacred City of the East, Source of Confucian Culture
Qufu, located in the southwest of Shandong Province, is the hometown of Confucius and the birthplace of Confucian culture, and is known as the "Sacred City of the East". As a national historical and cultural city, Qufu is named after "the city of Lu with a mound that curves around for seven or eight miles", and carries more than 3,000 years of civilization. Qufu is home to the world cultural heritage "Three Confucius" - the Confucius Temple, the Confucius Mansion and the Confucius Forest. The Confucius Temple enshrines Confucius, the Confucius Mansion is the mansion of the Duke of Diffraction, a descendant of Confucius, and the Confucius Forest is the world's oldest and largest family graveyard, which together constitute an important carrier of Confucian culture.
