Located in the northwest of Changhua County, Taiwan, Lugang is an important historical town in Taiwan. Founded in the Ming and Zheng Dynasties, it was once the second largest city in Taiwan, and has the reputation of "one government, two deer, and three capes". It has preserved the complete Minnan architectural complex, such as Longshan Temple, Tianhou Palace and other national monuments, among which Longshan Temple is regarded as the pinnacle of Taiwan's Buddhist architectural art.
Lugang is famous for its traditional craftsmanship and culinary culture, and its famous specialty snacks such as phoenix-eye cakes, shrimp and monkey cakes, and oyster omelette attract a large number of tourists. The annual Dragon Boat Festival "Lugang Danyang Celebration" includes traditional events such as dragon boat races and folklore performances, and is an important cultural event in Taiwan. Traditional handicraft stores can be found in the alleys and lanes of the old streets, displaying a strong cultural heritage.
As an important preservation site of southern Fujian culture, Lugang maintains traditional temple activities and living customs to this day, making it an important destination for experiencing Taiwan's traditional culture. Its unique ancient building complexes, folk customs and culinary culture make it one of the most representative historical and cultural towns in Taiwan.
