Lanzhou, Gansu, China: The Silk Road Town with the Yellow River Passing through the City
Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu Province, is located in the northwest of China in the Yellow River Valley Basin, and is the only provincial capital where the Yellow River passes through the city. As an important transportation hub and commercial port on the ancient Silk Road, Lanzhou has a history of more than 2,000 years and is known as the "Golden City". With four distinct seasons, dryness, little rain, and a large temperature difference between day and night, Lanzhou has a temperate continental climate.
Lanzhou is famous for "a bowl of noodles, a book and a river": the beef ramen is famous all over the country, the circulation of "Reader" magazine is the first in Asia, and the Huanghe Wind Wind Line shows the unique cityscape. Major attractions include the Yellow River Iron Bridge, the White Pagoda Mountain Park, the Waterwheel Expo Park and the Gansu Provincial Museum (which houses national treasures such as the Horse Treading Swallow). Nowadays, Lanzhou has become a comprehensive transportation hub and a modern industrial center in Northwest China, with well-developed industries such as petrochemicals, equipment manufacturing, biomedicine, etc., and the Chinese-European liner trains converge here, making it a key node city of "One Belt, One Road".
