Atfih, Egypt: A Thousand-Year-Old City on the River Nile
Atfih is a historic city along the Nile River in Egypt, located in the southern part of the Giza Governorate, about 50 kilometers from the capital city of Cairo, in a strategic location between the Nile River and the Fayoum Oasis. Known as "Per-Hathor" during the ancient Egyptian period, this city of more than 3,000 years is famous for its worship of the mother goddess Hathor, with some temple ruins and ancient tombs remaining.
